"Lew, my brother, was married to Carrie Libby at St. Joseph Mo. July 26, 1875. The Libby boys did my father's building and Denis Libby, Carrie's father, lived in our house many times when doing work in the neighborhood. The first time I remember Carrie I was two years old. When we were quite big children, Lew, Emma, Ella Libby, Carrie, Frank and I sat on the big rocks on the bank of the Magnolia and read aloud "The Pearl of Sweet Water,' an Indian story with hair-raising incidents. I remember it so well. The Libbys moved to St. Joseph. Lew studied photography of Mr. Ulman in St. Joseph where the romance between he and Carrie grew. They had a little daughter, Edna, die with diphtheria at Fairbury, then another girl was born, Blanche. When she was three years old her father died Nov. 6, 1881.

Lewis married Carrie Libby 26 JUL 1875 in St. Joseph, Missouri. (Carrie Libby was born on 2 May 1856 in Iowa and died on 14 Dec 1942 in Fresno, California.)
