Thatcher, 73, of North Hudson and formerly of Ticonderoga, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at the Helen Porter Nursing Home of Middlebury, Vt. Born in Ticonderoga, Dec. 1, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Kandace K. (Denno) Moore. Mrs. Thatcher moved to North Hudson in 1962.She was a well-known ceramics instructor during the 1970s, operating her business from her North Hudson home. Following her husband's retirement in 1992, the couple enjoyed wintering in Bandera, Texas.They also enjoyed participating in local flea markets, combining their talents, selling their handmade crafts. Mrs. Thatcher and her husband, Grant (Dick), would look forward to the Penfield Foundation Heritage Days and the Apple Festival every year. The Heritage Days event was also the date set aside for their family reunion. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Grant Richard Thatcher; four children, Grant Lynn Thatcher of North Bennington, Vt., Dorcey Lee Thatcher Bennett and her husband, Richard of Clifton Park, James R. Thatcher and his wife, Linda of Milton, Vt., and Jason J. Thatcher of Ticonderoga.She is also survived by five grandchildren, Lillian S. Thatcher, Samantha A. Thatcher, Grant R. Thatcher, Morgan J. Thatcher and Shannon L. Thatcher. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, April 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will take place on Friday, May 1, at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home.The Rev. Scott Tyler, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Ironville Cemetery.
