Hagler Sollenbarger was the son of David Thomas 1865-1943) and Sadie (1872-1965) Sollenbarger. He was born in Cordon, Iowa on January 20, 1904. Earl went to the University of Iowa where he graduated in 1928 and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta social fraternity.
He married Florence Gwendolyn Jones (1906-197) in 1933. They had two children, Susan and Tom.
Like his father, Earl was a banker. He began his career in 1929 as an examiner for the Federal Reserve, was a banking officer for several small Chicago land banks, and retired as a State of Illinois bank examiner.
Earl married Florence Gwendolyn Jones, daughter of Benjamin Edwin Jones and Florence Agnes Straw, in Bismark, North Dakota. (Florence Gwendolyn Jones was born on 28 Jul 1906 in North Dakota, died in Aug 2007 in Blue Island, Cook County, Illinois and was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Blue Island, Illinois.)
