Dorothy Burns - 2/4/2000 - Michigan City, News Dispatch --- LaPORTE — Dorothy Mae Burns, 81, LaPorte, died at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 2, 2000) at her daughter's home. The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Pastor Wayne Rosson officiating. Burial is in Springville Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Burns was born April 24, 1918, in New Troy, Mich., to Ernest and Jennie Hatfield Spears. On Nov. 22, 1939, in LaPorte, she married Frank Burns, who preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Friedrich, LaPorte, and M. Diana Davis, Michigan City; one son, Norman A. Burns, LaPorte; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle Kruger and Ermal Wilson; a son-in-law, Harley Davis; and one brother, Vernon Spears. Mrs. Burns retired from Thanhardt Burger as a fabric worker and worked at Designs and Cakes of Michigan City

Mrs Cora Ann Solner, 83 of 105 Hamilton Place, Michigan City, died at the Woods Nursing home yesterday morning after an illness of eight years.
Mrs. Solner was born in Lockport, N.Y. She was married to James Hatfield who died in 1928. She then Married Andrew Solner who died December 26, 1944.
Surviving are two sons, Henry Hatfield, LaPorte; Claude Hatfield, Michigan City; Five daughters, Mrs. Clarence Logman, LaPorte; Mrs. Frank Bentley, Buchanan, Mich.; Mr. Henry Johnson, New Carlisle; Mrs. Phillip Hessel, Michigan City, and Mrs. Mildred Vardeman, LaPorte; 25 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Solner was a member of the First Christian church, Michigan City.
Funeral service will be held tomorrow at the Ott Funeral chapel, Michigan City, with burial in Greenwood cemetery. The rev. Coleman T. Sparrow officiating. Friends may call at the funeral chapel until time of funeral services.

Claude Hatfield, 70, of 116 East Williams St., died at 12:30 A.M. today at St Anthony hospital. He was born in Three Oaks, Mich. January 10, 1901 and had liver here most of his life.
He was a retired Employee of Pullman-Standard company and a member of first Christian church, Michigan City.
He married February 19, 1927 in Michigan City to Evelyn Solner, who survives. also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Boothroid, Jr., Mrs. James Schilcker and Mrs. Joseph Gumms, all of Michigan City; one son, Eugene Hatfield of Michigan City; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Hery Johnson of New Carlisle and Mrs. Jennie Logman and Mrs. Mildred Vardman, both of LaPorte.
