M. Straw, 95, of Marysville, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon, PA. Nina was born in Lenoir City, TN on July 11, 1918, the daughter of the late George E. and Alice Rhea (Sharp) McCown. She was a member of the Marysville Church of God. Nina was a housewife, great mother, seamstress and managed the Marysville Grade School Cafeteria for many years. Over the years she also worked for the Marysville Dress Factory and Specialty Bakers of Marysville.
She was the widow of Edward M. "Barney" Straw.
Surviving are: a daughter, Nettie Rhea Knight, of Washington, DC, a son, Vice Admiral Edward M. Straw, his wife, Christine, of New York City. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Clifford "Jo" O'Neil, of Chatanooga, TN, her grandchildren, Silvana Straw, Margaret Straw, Katharine Straw, Andrew Knight, Rhea Knight Schmidt and a great granddaughter, Sofia Rhea Schmidt.
Funeral services on Saturday, July 20, 2013 are private. Burial will be in Perry Heights Cemetery, Marysville. Arrangements are entrusted to the Michael J. Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kinkora Pythian Home, 25 Cove Road, Duncannon, PA 17020. Shalonis -- Marysville
