Sarah A. Smith, born October 27, 1845, became the wife of Aaron T. Bardin of Windsor. Mr. Bardin was one of the noted characters of Dalton. In his native town he conducted a successful farm business, and was the incumbent of several township offices, He had a keen memory, a ready wit and he gained much notoriety on account of the readiness with which he wrote verses. Their children are: George W., of Middlefield, Massachusetts; Granville D., and Almira M. who is a graduate of the State Normal school at Westford, Massachusetts, and is now one of the most successful teachers in the vicinity.

Mrs. Sarah A. Bardin, 66, of Depot street died yesteday morning after an illness with pneumonia. Mrs. Bardin had occupied a part of the Henry Sears house for some years and her daughter - a school-teacher - lived with her. Mrs. Bardin was formerly Miss Sarah Smith and she was born at Dalton October 27, 1841, and her life had been spent in Dalton and Windsor. She married Aaron Bardin at Dalton and they occupied the farm in the northeastern part of the town till the death of her husband when she came to Dalton Center. She is survived by three children, Miss Almira M Bardin of Dalton, George W. Bardin of Middlefield and Granville D. Bardin of Holden; two borthers, Frank of Windsor and George of Preston, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Leston Parker of Plainfield and Mrs. Payson Eldridge of Ashfield. The funeral will be held at the home to-morrow at 2:30 o'clock.
