HARTFORD -- Imogene Juanita Straw, 84, of Hartford passed away from her life on earth to eternity in heaven on Sunday, June 5, 2005, at South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
Imogene was born on June 6, 1920, in Paragould, Ark., the daughter of John and Viola (Conway) Chapple, both of whom preceded her in death. She retired from Auto Specialties in 1978 after 30 years of employment. Imogene was a member of the Hartford Federated Church where she taught Sunday School and Awana. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, June 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Hartford Federated Church, where at 11 a.m. the service to honor her memory will be held. Pastor Timothy Nyhuis will officiate. Burial will take place in Keeler Cemetery, Keeler Township, Mich. Memorials may be made to the Hartford Federated Church. The Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, is assisting the family.
Imogene is survived by her husband, Donald, whom she married on Feb. 9, 1974; her son, George (Nancy) Huffman of Hartford; grandchildren -- Denis Huffman of Marshall, David Huffman of Stevensville, Annette Huffman of Kalamazoo and Roxanne Zehner, Anne Fisher and Robert Kennedy; five great-grandchildren -- Kyle, Joshua, Brianna, Ty and Jami. Imogene is also survived by two stepchildren -- Donna (Harry) Flagel and Myrna (Harril) Liles, both of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; five stepgrandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Sias of Hartford; and a brother, Russell Chapple of Niles.
Imogene was preceded in death by her first husband, George W. Huffman; daughter, Shirley Harris; her parents; and a brother, John Chapple.
Imogene married Donald Richard Straw, son of Luther Straw and Flossie Mae Meldrum, on 9 Feb 1974. (Donald Richard Straw was born on 12 Oct 1916 in Rockford, Michigan, died on 24 Feb 2008 in Heartland Health Care Center, Three Rivers. Michigan and was buried in Maple Hill Cemetery Hartford, Van Buren County, Michigan, USA.)
Imogene next married George Huffman.
