Maitland married Emma Estella Staples, daughter of Lorenzo Staples and Martha C. Thompson, on 21 Dec 1888 in North Andover, Massachusetts. (Emma Estella Staples was born on 17 Feb 1857 in Lisbon, Androscoggin County, Maine and died on 26 Feb 1913 in Woodstock, Windsor County, Vermont.). The cause of her death was syphilitic cirhosis; Anasarca Inanition.
