RITES HELD FOR MAN OF HANCOCK Harry S. Thurston, 78, of Hancock died Oct 1 at St. Michael's Hospital of Stevens Point of a heart attack. He had been in ill health the past five years. Mr. Thurston was born Feb 25, 1888 in the town of Deerfield, Waushara county.His parents were Philetus Thurston and the former Lucinda Briggs. During his younger years he was a drayman, quarry worker and a farmer in hte Redgranite and Auroraville areas, moving to the Hancock area in 1939. He farmed and worked several years for Libby McNeill and Libby as field foreman and station manager at the receiving station. He married the former Theresa Nigbor on May 10, 1915 at St. Joseph's Church of Berlin. they celebrated their Golden Wedding in May 1965. Funeral services were held on Oct 3 at St. Paul's Catholic Church of Plainfield, of which he had been a member, with Father James DeWitt officiating. burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were: Henry Baillod Jr; Gerald Hughes; Jim Callahan; Dave Seibel; Warren Parker and Edsel Carlton. Survivors are his wife; five daughters, Mrs Henry (Mary) Baillod of Hancock; Mrs Clarence (Arlene) Hintz of Stevens Point; Mrs Leonard (Mirna) Subrick of Babcock; Mrs. Darrel (Janice) Baumer of Chandler, Arizona and Mrs. Harold (Joyce) Freberg of Highland Park, IL; two sons: Richard of Springfield, OR and Leo of Jefferson; 25 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Harry married Theresa Nigbor, daughter of August Nigbor and Julia V. Grota, on 10 May 1915 in St. Joseph's Church in Berlin, Wisconsin. (Theresa Nigbor was born on 8 Jan 1894 in Wisconsin and died on 15 Oct 1975 in Wisconsin.)
