SYRACUSE -- Donald Ray Burkholder, 55, of Syracuse, died at 10:57 p.m. Tuesday (March 9, 2010) at home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1954, in Goshen to Nelson and Erma (Straw) Burkholder. He married Deborah (Peters) Smith on Oct. 31, 1997, in Warsaw.
She survives with son Donald Burkholder II; daughters Brandy Lee (Judd) Metz of Goshen and Robbilee (Waseen) Ansari of Canada; seven grandchildren; father Nelson (Patricia Waldron) Burkholder of New Paris; mother Erma Gross of Nappanee; sisters Susie (Larry) Neff of Goshen, Beverly Yoder of Wakarusa and Diane (Brad Smith) Fissgus of Goshen; five nephews; and two nieces.
He had worked in the mobile home industry in Kosciusko County, was a member of Eagles Lodge 1370 and Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, an avid bass fisherman, and enjoyed bowling and billiards.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, 10419 N. Turkey Creek Road, Syracuse, with pastors Harlin Steffen and Brad Cox officiating.
Elkhart Cremation Services is assisting with arrangements. Memorials may be given to Wawasee Lakeside Chapel.
