SPENCER \emdash Carolyn Sue Hendricks, 78, of Spencer, passed away, Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Owen Valley Health Campus. She was born October 10, 1935, in Monroe County to Lorenzo Thacker and Edith (Clark) Straw. She worked as the gate attendant for McCormick's Creek State Park, Checker Gas Station, IU Food Service, and Millers Cleaners. She was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed gardening, flowering, travel, spending time with her grandkids, and her dogs.
Mrs. Hendricks is survived by two sons, James Hendricks III of Indianapolis and Jon Richard Hendricks (Amanda) of Indianapolis; two daughters, Vanessa Jean Morris (Steve) of Indianapolis, and Jill Hendricks (Chuck Bellmore) of Bloomington; ten grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father; mother; husband, James Hendricks Jr. (Pooch); a stepfather, Paul Straw; a sister, Barbara Jo Anne Fleetwood; and a granddaughter, Shannon Hendricks.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call from 12-1 p.m. at the cemetery. A celebration of life will follow 2-4 p.m. at the Maple Grove Shelter at McCormick's Creek State Park. West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home are assisting with arrangements.
