Kathryn A. "Kathy" Straw, 62, has passed away. Kathy was born February 18, 1948, in Linton, IN, daughter of the late Maj. Raymond K. Straw Jr. (Ret.) and Mary I. Straw. Kathy served in the U.S. Navy, graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN, and worked for many years at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN, as a medical technologist. She moved to South Carolina in 1988 and worked as the laboratory system manager at Lexington Medical Center until 2009. She had recently retired. She was a member of Pisgah Lutheran Church and several other professional organizations. Kathy is survived by her brother, Raymond "Keith" Straw III (Beth) of Eden Prairie, MN; her sister, Karen Dial (Frankie) of Gilbert, SC; six nephews, four great-nephews and four great-nieces. She was predeceased by her niece, Jennifer Shorter.Kathy was quiet and quick-witted and a loving person, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral service for Kathryn "Kathy" A. Straw will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at Pisgah Lutheran Church, with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pisgah Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 1350 Pisgah Church Road, Lexington, SC 29072 or to your favorite pet charity.Published in The State on November 23, 2010
