OWEN S. SWANTON
Funeral services for Owen S. Swanton, 79, of Gorham, who died Sept. 4, at the Maine General hospital in Portland after a afew weeks' illness, were held in Portland on Tuesday morning. A commital service was conducted at Jackman's Corner cemetery, Sangerville, by the Rev. Samuel A. Bowman, pastor of the Dexter Methodist Church.
Mr. Swanton was born In Dexter July 27, 1870, son of the late Seth and Drusi1la (Coakley) Swanton. Early in life he married Effie Davis of Sangerville, who died several years ago. He spend the early part of his life in Dexter where he learned the machinist trade. Retiring four years ago, he settled in Gorham, where he purchased a home. He was a member of the Gorham Methodist Church and the Grange.
Surviving are his wife, the former Charlotte Dunning Sargent of Gorham; a daughter, Mrs. Theresa Maxfield; a son, Henry; two granddaughters, Mrs. Pauline Carson, Mrs. Beatrice Straw, two step-children, all of Gorham; three brothers, Wallace and Eugene of Dexter, Forest of Eliot; and a sister, Mrs. Mrytle Jackson of Dexter.
Owen married Charlotte M. Dunning. (Charlotte M. Dunning was born in 1880 in Topsham, Maine.)
