SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield for Nellie "Babe" Louvring of Springfield.
She died July 4 of a heart attack and Alzheimer's disease ( ôls-), degenerative disease of nerve cells in the cerebral cortex that leads to atrophy of the brain and senile dementia. at age 89.
She was born Jan. 19, 1919, in Dufur to Fred and Clara Hastings Simmons. She married Peter Louvring on July 17, 1944.
A graduate of Thurston High School, she worked for McKenzie-Willamette Hospital for many years until her retirement.
Survivors include her husband, of Eugene; two sons, Dan of Springfield and Gordon of Moreno Valley, Calif.; a daughter, Debbie of Frisco, Texas; a sister, Hazel Straw of Eugene; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
