Andrew Lee Rapp (Lee) was born in Portland, Oregon 14 July, 1905. Throughout his life he had several jobs. After graduation from University of Oregon in geology he went to work for Chicago Pneumatic. His training of Chicago Pneumatic took place in New York City after which he was assigned to Arizona territory to sell mining equipment. On one of his trips back to Eugene, Oregon he met his future wife, Amy Katherine Porter. Lee wooed her with postcards from Naco, Arizona and other mining towns he visited. At the beginning of The Depression all recent hires and unmarried men lost their jobs at Chicago Pneumatic. Lee returned to the Pacific Northwest and began working for a furniture factory in Tacoma, Washington.
He married Amy Katherine Porter on 11 October 1931 in Eugene, Oregon and he and Amy established their home in Portland, Oregon. Lee worked for Fuller Paints as a salesman evidenced by his business card posted on the wall of the historic machine shop at Mission Mill Museum in Salem, Oregon. At the start of WWII he went down to be drafted, but because he was married with children they would not take him. He then went to the OPA, Office of Price Administration and was hired to monitor use of rationing coupons during the war. After the war he worked for J.M. Harder Plumbing and Heating and opened appliance stores in the Portland area for the company. Following his experiences managing three stores for J.M Harder he went to work at Carr Chevrolet. In 1957 he and his wife bought Green Furniture Hospital and managed the company in partnership with his wife until he retired around 1974 when he retired.
His hobbies included gardening, home winemaking, and spending time with his family including daughter Katherine Lee Rapp and sons Andrew Porter Rapp and Joseph Hopkins Rapp, their spouses and eight grandchildren.
