FRANKLIN - Colin Stephen Jones Jr., 80, a resident of the Mountain Ridge Center in Franklin, died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the Franklin Regional Hospital following a long illness.
He was born in Hill, April 28, 1930, son of Colin S. Jones Sr. and Camilla (Colby) Jones. Colin spent many years in Hill before moving to Franklin.
He was employed for more than 20 years as a corrections officer at the State Prison in Concord.
A Mason, Colin was a member of the Meridian Lodge No. 60 in Franklin. He also was a member of the Eastern Star and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1698, in Franklin.
Colin was a veteran of the Marine Corps, serving as a sergeant during the Korean conflict. He later served with the N.H. Army National Guard in Franklin.
He was predeceased by his son, Richard Jones of Florida; his sisters, Marjorie Rousseau and Priscilla Rogers; and his brother, Donald Jones.
His family includes his wife, Rita (Chandonnait) Jones of Franklin; son, Bernard Straw of Tilton; daughter, Laurie Hart of Virginia; grand- and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte Brady of Randolph, Mass.; Patricia Jones of Edinberg, Va.; and nieces and nephews.
Interment with honors will be in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen on Friday, May 14, at 2:30 p.m.
Arrangements are under the care of the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home in Tilton.

Colin married Rita Adelle Chandonnait, daughter of Delphis Chandonnait and Adelle Picard. (Rita Adelle Chandonnait was born on 21 Apr 1924 in Laconia, Belknap County, New Hampshire, died on 27 Feb 2011 in Genesis-Mountain Ridge Center in Franklin, New Hampshire and was buried in NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, New Hampshire.)
