William Schlomberg, 100, of Albany died Tuesday in St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, and celebrated his 100th birthday Monday. He came to this county in 1923.
Mr. Schlomberg settled in Amsterdam, where he worked at the Mohawk Carpet Mills. He later was a private chauffeur in New Rochelle. He moved to Albany in 1944 and worked at the Schaefer Brewery.
He was a lifetime member of the German American Club.
Mr. Schlomberg was the widower of Mary Asshauer [Assheuer].
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday in the Zwack & Sons Funeral Home, 184 Central Ave., and at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Angels Church. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.

William married Mary Assheuer. (Mary Assheuer was born in 1898 in Germany, died in 1965 and was buried in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Albany, New York.)
