A.Tyson, 89, of Redwood Falls, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at the Sunwood Good Samaratan Care Center in Redwood Falls.
Services are 3 p.m. Monday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls. A Masonic service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Burial is in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is 1-3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Rebecca Stephens and husband Randy of Redwood Falls, Nancy Roach of Chicago, Tom Roach and wife Missy of Fairbanks, Ark.; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice, daughteer Jean Roach, brother Robert Tyson and brother-in-law Jack Franklin.
He was born on April 2, 1912 in Redwood Falls, to Joseph and Nettie (MacLaer) Tyson. He gradutated from Redwood Falls High School in 1929 and attended St. Thomas Military Academy in St. Paul. He married Bernice Franklin on April 4, 1933, at the Franklin family farm north of Redwood Falls. They lived in Redwood Falls, where Tom was the Redwood County Weed & Seed Inspector. He retired in 1974. He served as president of the Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the hospital and park boards. He was active in the Masons and the Shriners. Tyson Park, the hockey rink and Tyson Trail in Ramsey Park in Redwood Falls are all named to honor the Tyson family.
