Veda G. Felling, 97, died Sunday morning, Feb. 10, 2002, in Rose Haven Nursing Home following an extended illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, by Pastor James Stewart. Burial: Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
She is survived by two sons, Nyle and wife Dotty and Dwight [b.1935] and wife Anita, all of Marengo; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis [b. 1907 IA] in May 1975; a sister, Doris Pratt; and a granddaughter, Danita Straw in 1981.
Veda Gertrude Jones was born Jan. 20, 1905, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Edgar and Clara Gittins Jones. She received her education in the Iowa County schools, graduating from Williamsburg High School in 1923. She married Lewis E. Felling on April 15, 1933, at her parents' home in Williamsburg. The couple farmed south of Marengo for many years. For the past six years, Veda has made her home at Rose Haven Nursing Home due to declining health.
