COLDWATER - Marguerite L. Straw, 83, of Coldwater, died at Community Health Center of Branch County on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005.
She was born on April 1, 1922 in Coldwater to Willis and Lucille (Parshall) Smith. She married Paul Straw in October 1940, in Angola, Ind., and they resided in Coldwater.
Marguerite was a lifelong resident of Branch County. She attended Union City school. She worked at the Pants Factory and was also a beautician. Marguerite sold Minnesota Woolens, Covington Jewelry, had a ceramic shop and baby set. She belonged to the business and professional women, and a bridge club. She enjoyed camping, traveling, knitting, and sewing. She loved to do things with her family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at Gillespie Funeral Home, with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Burial is at Oak Grove Cemetery, Coldwater.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Paul; sister, Marion Cazier, of Augusta; nieces and nephews: Richard and Patricia Straw, Joe Alexander, Linda Alexander-Wyers, Mary Ann Handy, John Moyer, Ivan Moyer, Jr., Suzanne Crandall, Kathy Myers, Robert Smith, Jr., Judy Wyatt, Christine Bradley, and Steven Danbury; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Rolene Barthold, Mary Danbury, Iva May Smith, and brother Robert Smith.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Visiting Nurses or the Alzheimer Association.
