Geraldine "Gerri" Lechner
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Sat., Jan. 19, for Geraldine Ruth Lechner, 87, Madison, who died on Jan. 17, 2013 (today), at Golden Living Center here. The Rev. Al Nasman will officiate in Ramsey Baptist Church, rural Montrose, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour preceding the service at the church.
Geraldine Friman was born on Dec. 9, 1925, near Hurley to Eldo and Gladys (Benson) Friman. She married Robert Walter Lechner on May 4, 1947, at Parker. T h e y farmed in Turner, McCook and Lake counties.
She was a longtime member of Ramsey Baptist Church and taught Sunday School there for many years. She moved into Madison in 1993. She held several jobs over the years. She resided at Golden Living Center for the last five years.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey (Liz) and Douglas, both of Madison; three daughters, Sandra (Michael) Haas of Yankton, Dianne (Chuck) Willey of Gettysburg, and Barb (Keith) Hemmelman of Pierre; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; eight sisters, Marion Straw of Mitchell, Edith (Donald) Moe of Letcher, Doris Cordell of Huron, Audrey (George) Sample, Genette Rusk and Carolyn McMahon, all of Flandreau, Margaret Adel of Lake Andes, and Eleanor Bjerkaas of Irene; one brotherin-law, Herbert Gossel of Kimball; three sisters-in-law, Phyllis Friman of Lennox, Dorothy Friman of Tripp, and Phyllis Graack of Parker; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert in 1984; three sisters, Dorothy Hanson, Frances Gassel and Vivian Friman; and three brothers, Gene, Jim and Richard Friman.
Memorials may be directed to Ramsey Baptist Church.
