Joseph married Angeline Boynton Clough, daughter of Theophilus Currier Clough and Hannah G. Boynton. (Angeline Boynton Clough was born on 17 May 1830 in Enfield, Grafton County, New Hampshire, died on 16 May 1905 in Enfield, Grafton County, New Hampshire and was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield, New Hampshire.). The cause of her death was cancer of neck.
