His four brothers put him through school and he became the Director of Secondary Education for the Corpus Christi Independent School District. His father, Malcolm Sprinkle, died when John was 12. Lydia Sprinkle was his mother. John married three times... to Edith Tynan Codd, to Teddi Rawlings and to Peggy Straw. Each died before he did. He died of renal failure and a bad, yet very good, heart.

JOHN PETER SPRINKLE, 74, passed away Monday, July 12, 2004 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born October 4, 1929 in Lockhart, Texas to Malcomb and Lydia Sprinkle. He grew up in Rockport before his brothers sent him to college. He served in the U. S. Army as a Corporal with the Military Police. John worked for the Corpus Christi Independent School District from 1956 - 1994. He taught science at Ella Barnes Junior High, was Director of Curriculum and Instruction and served as a consultant. His wives, Edith, Thelma and Peggy Sprinkle, his son, Michael Peter Sprinkle and three brothers, Clarence, Nathan and Milton Sprinkle, preceded John in death. He is survived by two sons, Jeff (Betty) Sprinkle of Tigard, Oregon and John E. Sprinkle of Michigan; two daughters, Stefani (Scott) Huegele of Houston, Texas and Kristi (Michael Schapansky) Sprinkle of Austin, Texas; his brother, Gene Sprinkle of Rockport, Texas; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
