Phila, or Polly, was the daughter of Benajah and Rhoda (Garfield) Acherman. She was married twice; first to Chester Smith and had 2 sons, Lyman Smith and Henry O. Smith, both born in Hague, NY. She was married second in circa 1852 [actually 1955] to Lyman Bruce. They had at least 2 sons, George and Clarence, both born in Warren County, NY. In 1898, they followed son, George, to Chateaugay, NY.
