From Quebec they took the C.P.R. to Paris Ontario to join some of her family who were working in the hosiery mills....William and Ellen moved from Paris to Hamilton and rented rooms from the Goldbergs, William began working as a timekeeper for the Timothy Eaton Company.... After William died in 1921, Ellen started her own drygoods business. This was very difficult because of the Depression and the fact she was a widow with two small children... [1921-1965] Ellen owned and operated Straw's Dry Goods. #1 - King Street East, #2 - Kenilworth near Barton, #3 - Kenilworth near Cannon and #4 - 603 Concession Street."
1983 - "Ellen died at the home of her grandson, James William Fountain and her ashes were interred at Hamilton Cemetary with her husband William, her parents William and Elizabeth Watson and her father-in-law Matthew Straw."
