  General Notes:

I will place him as a brother of Edmund and Agnes based on the following:
1. In 1860 there is an "Agnice Gates" age 15 in his HH...born 1845 Canada..Agnes is buried with her brother Edmund in IA. and her stone says "sister"
2. John Gates is also buried in the same cemetery and plot in IA although not listed on findagrave. This is documented in the Will of Cora (Gates) Roberts where she allots money for perpetual care of his grave.[Her father]
3. There are many connections in the Will of Cora that bear out the probability that Edmund, Agnes and John are all siblings
4. Edmund is living with John in the 1870 census of New Hampton, IA
