A funeral for William D. Messer of Warren will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Skyline Funeral Home. Interment will be in Skyline Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Messer died Thursday in his home of complications arising from a stroke. He was 76.
He was born May 23, 1915, in Rattan, Okla. He moved to Cathlamet, Wash., during the late 1920s, where he graduated from high school. Mr. Messer had lived in the Northwest Portland area for many years before moving to the Warren area about nine years ago.
He had been a working shareholder for the Linnton Plywood Association for more than 30 years until his retirement in 1981.
He married Gladys Anderson on Dec. 21, 1939, in Kelso, Wash.
Survivors besides his wife include his son, Gregory of Scappoose; daughters, Laureen Nicoich of Milwaukie and Cynthia Brown of Scappoose; brother, James of Astoria; sisters, Earline Brown and Allice Straw, both of Kelso, Wash.; and six grandchildren. His son, William D. Messer , died in 1961.
