Obituary
Today, we lost a great man - Dick Power - our Dad, our Pop, our Poppy Powder. He passed away very peacefully in his 93rd year, at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Marg (nee Collins), his parents: Frank & Ida Power, his brother, Frank and his sister, May Critch.
Leaving to mourn his 10 children: Rick (Joan), Marie (Derm), John (Liz), Terry (Doreen), Lorraine, Ruby (Rodney), Joe (Christine), Patrick (Kathy), Bill (Roz), Tom (Sheri); 19 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sister-Catherine, sisters-in-law: Jose, Marie, Genny & Beth, and his loyal furry friends Buster & Mr. Berkeley.
Dad worked tirelessly all of his life to support his family and was so proud of all of us. He was loved by all who knew him. He enjoyed having a crowd of people around him and was always up for a party and ready with a song or a story.
We are content in knowing that Dad & Mom, the love of his life & best friend, are reunited.
Thank you to the staff and residents of Admiral's Coast Retirement Home (his second family). There are no words to describe how much you guys are appreciated.
Many thanks to the staff of St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, both in Emergency and on the 7th Floor. Everyone was absolutely awesome, kind and compassionate.
Flowers are greatly accepted or you may donate, in his memory, to the local new SPCA building in the works in St. John's (www.thewayhomespca.ca)
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Dunphy's Funeral Home in Holyrood. Wake and visitation to be held at the Sacred Heart Church in North Harbour, SMB, on Sunday, April 10th from 2:00 pm \endash 7:00 pm, VIGIL at 6:00 pm and Monday, April 11th from 2:00 pm \endash 5:00 pm. NOTE: Dad died of natural causes at 93 years of age; however, he did test positive for Covid while in hospital. St. Clare's has very strict covid protocols, which we all followed. A number of us have had Covid; however, we suggest you evaluate your own risks in deciding to attend
