Corner Brook, NL It is with love and brokenness in our hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our loved one Gertrude (Gertie) Parsons. In the arms of her loving daughter: Wynne-Anne and special friend Jackie, Gertrude lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Palliative Care Unit Western Memorial Regional Hospital. Leaving to cherish her memory are her loving daughter Wynne-Anne (Charlie), her grandsons (who meant the world to her) Justin (Emily Marie) and Matthew (Emily). Her sisters: Sadie, Mary, Marie (Wayne), Patsy and Linda (Colin); her brother Mike (Mildred). Gertrude was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred Parsons; father Richard Walsh and mother Julia Ann Walsh, her siblings: sisters Iona and Barbara; brothers Jerome, Patrick and Jack. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, on Thursday, September 13, 2018 from the hours of 6:30 to 9:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 14, 2018 at 10:00am from The Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer and Immaculate Conception Parish, Mount Bernard Avenue, Corner Brook with Father Edward Terry presiding. At Gertrude's request, cremation will take place following the service. The interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, no flowers by request, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family or a charity of one's choice. Gertrude married Wilfred Lawrence Parsons, son of John J. Parsons and Mary Maher. (Wilfred Lawrence Parsons was born on 5 Jan 1935 in Clattice Harbor, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, died on 14 Feb 2008 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and was buried in Mount Patricia Cemetery - Corner Brook, Newfoundland.)
