Louis James Lawrence, 89, of Danville, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Colonial Manor in Danville.
He was born Dec. 9, 1923 in Atalla, Alabama to Ellie and Birtie Hopkins Lawrence. He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Veronica and a son, Louis Lawrence Jr.
Surviving are his children, Jimmie (Leon) Sanger, Frank (Charyl) Lawrence, Ellie (Chuck) Montgomery and Vicki Lawrence; a special friend, Helen Ohl; his stepdaughter, Deanna (Jack) Booe and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He attended school in Etowah County, Alabama and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Heatcraft, formerly Bohn Aluminum for 30 years, retiring in 1986.

Louis married Veronica Bridget Pittman, daughter of Ignatius Pittman and Johannah Mary Walsh.
