Today 68 years ago darkness fell over the little community of St Kyrans Placentia Bay when they learned of the drowning of our father and brother Alphonsus and Clem Leonard my mom was left with 5 other small children ages 3 months to 7 years old.... May they R.i.P

My father Anthony, whom I would describe as a very hard man who kept his emotions very close was Alphonsus's brother. He referred to it as "The Day St. Kyrans Died." When he spoke of the tragic loss of his brother and nephew he was always overcome and clearly upset. Hopefully they are resting in peace surrounded by the beauty of their birthplace, St Kyrans.
This took place in Dick McGrath's pond in St . Kyran's or sort of in between St. Kyran's and St. Leonard's.

Terry Geradline maybe so. I have this information. Peter Leonard and wife Bridget Farrell Leonard had a son by the name of Phonse. I am not sure who he married but I do know that on February 10th 1951 he drowned near St. Leonard's and St. Kyran's trying to save his son. Clem.

Alphonsus married Madeline. (Madeline was born in 1923 in Barachoix, Newfoundland.)
