Passed away June 9, at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in his 76th year. He leaves to mourn his wife Annie, two daughters Ann Duffy and Catherine Durrett, both in Ontario, four sons Archie, Peter, Michael, all in Nova Scotia and Rory in Mt. Pearl, seven step daughters Patsy Toorock in San Francisco, Bonnie Clouter and Kathy Mansfield, both of Stephenville, Sharon LeBrun, Edmonton, Vicky White, Cornwallis, N.S., Dawn Mills, Germany and Deirdre Rumbolt, Corner Brook, seven stepsons Sean Rumbolt, Labrador City, Glen Rumbolt, Bruce Rumbolt, Leslie Rumbolt, Damian Rumbolt, all of Alberta, Chipper Rumbolt and Lonnie Rumbolt, both of Stephenville. Two sisters Ann Kent and Catherine Turner, forty-four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Cynthia and daughters Rona and Mary. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon, June 11, with 2 p.m. mass from the Church of St. Stephen's, West St., Stephenville with interment being made in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery on the Hansen Highway.

Joseph married Hyacinth "Cynthia" Rose Hynes, daughter of John Columba Hynes and Juliana "Julina" Gallant. (Hyacinth "Cynthia" Rose Hynes was born on 3 Sep 1917 in Port au Port, Bay St. George, Newfoundland & Labrado and died on 21 Mar 1982 in Stephenville, , Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.)

Joseph next married Annie Frances Duffy. (Annie Frances Duffy was born in 1926, died on 9 Jan 2003 in Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, Newfoundland and was buried in Roman Catholic Cemetery in Campbell's Creek.)
