Hayes, William James (Bill)
Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center on Sunday, May 28th, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer, Bill Hayes, age 80 years. Retired Canadian National Railway Employee (Chef), Merchant Navy WW11 Veteran, Member of Branch No. 1 of the Royal Canadian Legion, and a volunteer who entertained many senior citizens with his accordion music. Predeceased by family members, including Bert Hayes, Mary and Basil Meaney, Agnes and Kevin Foley and Monica Burke. Leaving to mourn his devoted wife of 51 years, Margaret (nee Burke); son Wayne (Josephine) Hayes; daughters; Shirley (Dave) Denine and Margie (Walter) Mate; grandchildren; Keith and Mark Denine, Michelle Mate, Stephen Hayes and Melanie (Chirs) Healey; brother Gus (Mary) Hayes. Also mourning his loss are brothers-in-law Jack Burke, Tom (Susan) Burke, Leo Burke; sisters-in-law; Rita Hayes, Lucy (Tom) Murphy and Kitty (Dave) Power; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, from 2-5 pm and 7-10 pm Monday, May 20th, 2000 and Tuesday, May 30th, 2000. Rite of Christian Burial to be held at 9:30 am Wednesday, May 31st, 2000 from St. Patrick's Church, Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center.
