Calvin James Carew A resident of Glacier View Lodge, Courtenay, B.C., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 4th, 2001 at age 67. Predeceased by his parents Tom and Annie, he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pat; sons Chris (Michelle), Tony (Monica), Michael (Shirley) and Paul (Cheryl); grandchildren Noah, Bailey and Denelle; sisters and brothers Marg, Pat, Tom, Gertrude, Josephine, Madelyn, Bren, Jerry and Charlotte, as well as many nieces and nephews. Cal served for 33 years with the Air Force, retiring in Ottawa as Captain in 1990, then moving to the Comox Valley. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, coached minor hockey in Ottawa and became President of the St. Laurent Minor Hockey Association and was an original member of Christ The King Conference Society of St. Vincent de Paul. In his leisure, Cal was well-known for his love of both square and round dancing. Prayers will be offered from Christ the King Roman Catholic 7 months ago 6070NJKR Church on Friday, December 7th at 7 p.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 8th at 12 noon with Father Kaz Oleksy, Celebrant. Fellowship and refreshments will follow in the Church Hall. Comox Valley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1101 Ryan Road, entrusted with arrangements.
