Passed away peacefully at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL, on Monday, January 20th, 2014 at the age of 92 years. A precious Angel & prayer warrior Edna Durdle nee Sparkes. leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her children; Gertie (Raymond) White, Samuel (Patricia), Minetta (Scott), Winston (Rachael), Margaret (Ronald), Joy Gordon (Danny McDonald), Melva (Graham), Carson (Audrey), & Barry (Violet), her siblings; Lloyd & Betty Sparkes, Melvin Sparkes, & Brada (Joe) Parsons, her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, & great great grandchildren, her nephews, nieces, other relatives, family and friends. Mother was predeceased by her husband; Walter, daughter; Annie, son; John (Jack), her parents; Ambrose & Martha Sparkes, her 9 brothers. Mother was an active Home League member before her health failed. The family will be receiving family & friends from the Salvation Army Church in Deer Lake, NL, today Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014, from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 pm, and continuing on Thursday, January 23rd, 2014 from the hours of 2 - 4 & 7- 9 pm, where also the funeral service will take place from on Friday, January 24th, 2014 at 2:pm with Major Carson Durdle, & Majors; Wayne & Betty Ann Pike officiating with the burial to follow at the church cemetery on High Street, Deer Lake, NL. Flowers and or donations can be made to the Deer Lake Salvation Army Church in Edna's memory would be graciously appreciated by the family. Heartfelt thanks expressed by the families to the homecare workers, W.M.R.Hospital Medical & Nursing staff of the 5th floor & Palliative care. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL.
