It is with great sadness that the family of the late Russell Selby Sparkes announce his passing on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at the Bonne Bay Health Centre in his 80th year. Leaving to celebrate his life his loving and devoted wife of 58 years Johan. Three sons: David (Shirley) of Lower Sackville, NS, John (Violet) of Corner Brook, Trevor (Gail) of Rocky Harbour; daughters: Olive (Clare) of Ajax, Ontario, Catherine (Kevin) of St. John's; his grandchildren Carla, Chad, Stephen, Stephanie, David, Natasha, Jennifer, Trevor and Erika. His great-grandchildren Stephen Jr., Corey, Clarissa, Haley, Benjamin and William. Three brothers, Eunice (Ena), Lloyd and Melvin. His sisters Edna, Brada (Joe) and their families. Also a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation will take place from the Salvation Army Church in Rocky Harbour today, Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where also funeral services will take place on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Capt. Hopkins officiating. Interment to follow at the family plot. As expressions of sympathy flowers or donations may be made to the Salvation Army Church, Rocky Harbour. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake.
