It is with great sadness that the family of the late Chesley Newman Sparkes announce his passing on Monday, June 24, 2002 at the Health Science Centre in his 75th year. He will be sadly missed by his loving children, Cheslea (Lloyd) Critch of Wiltondale, Elizabeth (Norman) Gilley of Rocky Harbour, Roy (Rita) of Kelligrews, Melva (Doug) Simms of Corner Brook, Valerie (Blandford) Duval of Trout River, Venus (Wilson) Thomas of Balmertown, Ontario, Wayne of Manitoba, Philip (Nancy) of Eddy's Cove, Gauis (Della) of Rocky Harbour, Ruth (John) Forward of Corner Brook, Patricia (Darren) Reid of Rocky Harbour, his daughter-in-law Barbara of Rocky Harbour. 33 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; four brothers: Russell (Joanna), Lloyd (Cora), Eunice (Ena) and Melvin; two sisters: Edna and Brada (Joe), also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Annie, son Matthew, two grandchildren, his parents Ambrose and Martha Sparkes and his six brothers. Visitation will take place from the Salvation Army Church in Rocky Harbour today, Wednesday and Thursday where also funeral services will take place on Friday with interment to follow at the family plot. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Newman W. Sparkes announce his passing at the Bonne Bay Health Centre on Monday, July 17th, 2000, in his 53rd year. He will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife Barbara (nee Reid), his son Shane (Cathy), Brampton, Ontario, his daughter Melanie of Upper Gullies, NF, four grandchildren Savannah, Nicole, Nadine and Jordan. His parents Annie and Chesley Sparkes of Rocky Harbour. His brothers and sisters Chelsea (Lloyd) of Wiltondale, Gaius (Della), Elizabeth (Norman) Gilley, all of Rocky Harbour, Valerie (Blandford) Duval of Trout River, Roy (Rita) St. John's, Venus (Wilson) Thomas of Ontario, Wayne of Manitoba, Phillip (Nancy), Eddies Cove, Melva (Doug) Simms and Ruth (John) Forward of Corner Brook, niece Pat (Darren) Reid of Rocky Harbour. His twenty seven nieces and nephews, twelve grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by two nephews. The family will be receiving family and friends today Tuesday, July 18th, 2000 from the Salvation Church at Rocky Harbour from where the Funeral Service will also take place on Wednesday, July 19th at 2 p.m. with Lieut. Simms officiating. The interment to follow at the Church Cemetery, Rocky Harbour. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dr. Harry Bliss Cancer Centre of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Chemo Unit would be gratefully accepted. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake.
