Virginia Christina Straw, 68, of Biggsville, 1L., died at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 1996, at University Hospitals in Iowa City. Born Dec. 17, 1927, in West Lancaster, she was the daughter of William Delbert and Mable Christina Young Jones. She married Herman Albert Straw on Aug. 27, 1955, in Burlington. He died March 3, 1968. Mrs. Straw attended schools in Sigourney and Ottumwa and her family moved to Burlington in the early 1940s. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed sharing the company of her family and friends, playing bingo and talking on the citizens band radio. Survivors include one daughter, Christina L. Straw of Biggsville, IL.; one son, William R. Straw of Biggsville, IL.; three grandchildren; four brothers, Merle D. Jones and Donald L. Jones, both of Burlington, H. Gene Jones of California and Kenneth Jones of Arkansas; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather and six children. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Sederwall Chapel in Biggsville, 111., where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Straw will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sederwall Chapel. Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.

Virginia married Herman Albert Straw, son of Charles Russell Straw and Beulah Marie Chestnut, on 27 Aug 1955 in Burlington, Iowa. (Herman Albert Straw was born on 28 Apr 1932 in Edgar, Edgar county, Illinois, died on 3 Mar 1968 in Iowa and was buried in Keokuk National Cemetery - Lee County, Iowa.)
