IN LOVING MEMORY OF MAUD SULLIVAN
Born November 29, 1903 at St. Kierans, Newfoundland. Died peacefully June 23, 2000 at Manoir De L'Age D'or, 3430 Rue Jeanne Mance, Montreal. Daughter of the late James and Margaret Sullivan. Sister of Timothy, Mary Pye (deceased), Pauline Walker of Corner Brook, NF, Nora Muirhead of Toronto, James (deceased). Associate Member of St. Joseph's Oratory, Mont Royal. After graduating at an early age from Littledale College, St. John's, NF, she became a teacher. Maud later worked in many other venues: She was executive secretary for the Bowater Newfoundland Pulp and Paper Company in Corner Brook. While there, Maud wrote a column for the local newspaper, giving a witty and perceptive view of happenings in the town. During World War II, Maud worked for the British Purchasing Commission in New York and Washington. One of her cherished memories was being invited to the White House to have lunch with Eleanor Roosevelt. Maud's artistic talents and portrait painting were appreciated by her many friends. She was a generous gift-giver and prolific letter writer and will continue to be the source of many wonderful memories for her nephews and nieces. Maud was a "liberated woman" many years before the words appeared in print. Thanks to the staff at Manoir for their care. And special thanks to David and Maureen who visited her so often. Visitation 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at St. Leon de Westmount (Blvd. De Maissonneuve and Clarke Avenue), followed by a Funeral Mass. Interment at Cote de Neige Cemetery. No flowers, please. A donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Wray Walton Wray Funeral Home, 1459 Towers Street, Montreal.
