General Notes:
Facebook Wayne Collins? to Resettled: Merasheen, St. Kyran's, Iona, Red Island... November 29, 2010 Delighted to have discovered this group. My grandfather was Domenic Collins, who left St. Kyran's with his family to live in St. John's in 1927. He was married to Louisa Flynn from St. Ann's. Their children were Joseph, Mary, Alphonsus (my father), Rose and Teresa. I had the privilege of visiting St. Kyran's back in the early 1990's. I fell in love with the place and hope to someday visit again. My father and his brother Joseph served Mass for Father Fyme. I particularly enjoyed viewing the photos uploaded to this group, especially the shots of the original stone church. I would be very grateful if someone has pictures of St. Kyran's and area taken between the years 1900- 1930. I imagine they must be extremely rare. I'm attaching a photo of my father and his mother that was taken in St. John's in the early 1930's. Domenic, who I'm told was a fisherman/ship builder, worked in carpentry in St. John's before he died in 1932. Both Dad and his brother Joe wsent on to become professional prize fighters in St. John's. Dad later worked at Bennett Brewery for 42 years. Thanks again....really appreciate discovering this group.
Domenic married Louisa Flynn.
