Gloria Muriel Monks (nee Berry) of Calgary passed away while surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the age of 88 years. Gloria grew up on a farm near Grand Valley, ON with her parents Maude and Hector Berry and siblings, Dorothy, Jean and Grant. Gloria loved animals and children and the love was mutual. Growing up on a farm, she spent time riding horses and helping with the other animals. Gloria also was gifted with a green thumb and was a successful gardener. She was a compassionate, kind woman with an abundant amount of energy who loved her family first and foremost. Gloria spent many years looking after her grandchildren. She threw amazing gatherings for her family and friends and was the glue holding everyone together, always encouraging strength and unity. This made her a hard worker and a loyal daughter, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a fiercely passionate woman, never afraid to speak her mind and was direct in her actions with people as she moved through her life. Gloria is survived by her three children, Susan (Tom), Sally (Arny) and Bill (Nichole); along with nine grandchildren, Kevin, Cathy, Mark, Paul, Tsarina, Alisha, Anne, Ben and Ray. She also leaves behind her sister Jean Chaney and brother Grant Berry of Scarborough, Ontario. Gloria was predeceased by her husband Reginald Monks. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Gloria married Reginald Maxwell Monks, son of William Monks and Jane Hynes, on 15 Sep 1951 in Orangeville, Ontario, Canada. (Reginald Maxwell Monks was born on 26 Jul 1929 in Tacks Beach, Newfoundland and died on 26 Dec 2003 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.)
