Joan E. Thompson, 80, of Carey, died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at her residence.
She was born March 13, 1931, in Carey, to Albert and Hulda (Kentfield) Bentz. She married Frank L. Thompson June 22, 1957, in Upper Sandusky. He preceded her in death Nov. 29, 2005.
Surviving are a son, Allan (Sherry) Brown of Marion; a sister, Mary Blair of Carey; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Roberta "Tiny" Young; two sisters, Laura Ruffing and Barbara Eddington; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. A scripture service will be at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Monday, March 5, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, with the Rev. Florian Tiell officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Carey

Joan married Frank Leroy Thompson, son of Harry Mason Thompson and Stella Mae Malifsky. (Frank Leroy Thompson was born on 7 Jul 1932 in Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, Ohio, died on 29 Nov 2005 in Carey, Wyandot County, Ohio and was buried in Sr. Mary's Cemetery - Carey, Ohio.)
