Wade Dyer, 73, died July 6 at his residence in the King community.
Services were held July 8 at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Lawrence and Rev. Gary L. Paxton officiating. Burial was in the King Cemetery.
Born March 10, 1916 in the Spring Hill communtiy of Coryell County, he was the son of the late Fred Dyer, Sr. and Ethel Dyer. He was raised and attended school in Coryell County. He married Marvel Lawrence Dec. 4, 1937 in Gatesville. He and his wife made their home in the King community where he was a farmer and rancher for many years. He also worked in the construction business for many years. He was a member of the Gatesville Masonic Lodge 197, the Scottish Rite and the King Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Maurice (Joyce) Young of King and Mrs. Grady (Sandra) Spence of Gatesville; one son, Ronald Wade Dyer of Mexia: two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Gladys) Wicker of Gatesville and Mrs. Charles (Ethel Dean) Straw of Corpus Christi; two brothers Raymond (Peck) Dyer of Nacogdoches and Fred Dyer, Jr. of Gatesville; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The pallbearers at the funeral were his nephews.
Wade married Marvel Lawrence, daughter of William Henry Lawrence and Denia Saphronia Millsap, on 4 Dec 1937 in Gatesville, Coryell County, TX. (Marvel Lawrence was born on 24 Sep 1915 in Coryell County, Texas and died on 17 Apr 2005 in Coryell County, Texas.)
