Deceased Name: Robert W. Straw
TUFTONBORO -- Robert W. Straw, 90, of Tuftonboro Neck Road, died Feb. 11, 2003, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.
Born Feb. 21, 1912, in Mirror Lake, a son of Harry E. and Harriet F. (Bean) Straw, he lived all his life in Mirror Lake. He was a graduate of Brewster Academy.
He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Barbara E. Drucker, in July 2000.
He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army.
He especially loved his community and contributing to the community, serving as a selectman for 12 years and fire chief for five years. He was also past master and 60-year member of the Morning Star Lodge, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Bektash Temple, Samardis Shrine Club, both Scottish and York Rite and past commander of the Harriman Hale American Legion Post in Wolfeboro.
Family member includes a daughter, Elizabeth Floridio of New Port Richey, Fla.
SERVICES: Funeral service and a Masonic service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Melvin Village Community Church in Melvin Village.
Spring burial will be in Town House Cemetery, Tuftonboro.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be to VNA Hospice of Southern Carroll County and Vicinity, P.O. Box 1620, Wolfeboro 03894.
The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Wolfeboro is in charge of arrangements.
