CLEAR LAKE - Howard R. Straw, 71, of 2113 S. Lakeview Drive, died Tuesday (June 12, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Clear Lake Christian Church in Clear Lake, with Mark Young officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. in Mason City.
Memorials may be given to Clear Lake Christian Church.
Howard was born Sept. 7, 1929, in Mason City, the son of Newton and Mabel (Govig) Straw. Howard graduated from Mason City High School.
He married Leona Stott on Sept. 24, 1950, in Garner. Howard worked in sales for Northwestern States Portland Cement Co. from 1959 to 1982.
He was a member of Clear Lake Christian Church, Benevolence Lodge No. 145 A.F. & A.M. and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Howard is survived by his wife, Leona Straw, of Clear Lake; two sons, Steve Straw and his wife, Debra, of Johnston, and Mark Straw and his wife, DeAnn, of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Adam, Sarah, Lucas and Katie; and one brother, Robert Straw and his wife, Betty, of Bemidji, Minn.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Dorothy Whitten.
