Retired Rosebud Rancher Dies
FORSYTH '97 Merlon Henry Francis, 84, early-day rancher of this vicinity, died Thursday at the Joseph Hotel, where he has made his home for a number of years.
Mr. Francis was born in Omaha, Neb., April 12, 1870, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Francis.
He came to Montana in 1900 and lived on the Upper Rosebud Creek and at Lame Deer. In 1905 he married Clara Straw Austin at Forsyth. They resided at Lame Deer for two years, then purchased a ranch 21 miles south of Forsyth and lived there until Mrs Francis' death on 17 Sept
1941. Shortly afler that time, Mr.Francis retired and moved to Forsyth.'
Burial will he in the local cemetery.
Survived by two nephews Howard and Clark Foote
