Ernest and Mildred were married 10 years before Barbara was born. She was born in Manchester, NH as you know but she was born by Cesarean section which was very new back then. Her father, Ernest, had driven Mildred to Manchester in a horse drawn cart for the birth. It must have been quite cold in January! They were living in Bradford, NH at the time. Mildred died when Barbara was only 13. (research of Russell and Mary L Bastian and passed to me via e-mail 23 Jan 05)
