"Mrs. Lumgair worked for the State Ed Dept in Albany. Due to health reasons she and her husband moved to Riverside, California where they both worked for the University of Southern California. In 1957 she and her husband travelled extensively around the world, including trips to Tokyo, Athens and South America. In 1968 through 1969 she was listed in Who's Who of American Women. She was a member of the Riverside, CA Sheriff's Dept Auxillary and a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Riverside, CA for over 50 yrs. Funeral service from the Frederick Funeral Home in Albany with burial in Memory's Garden Cemetery in Colonie, NY.

ALBANY -- Leona B. Lumgair, 92, a resident of Albany, died on December 3, 1998 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. She was born on March 30, 1906 in Horicon, NY and was the daughter of Herbert and Fannie (Baker) Bennett. Mrs. Lumgair worked for the State Education Department in Albany. Due to health reasons, she and her husband moved to Riverside, CA where they both worked for the University of Southern California. In 1957 she and her husband traveled extensively around the world, including trips to Tokyo, Athens and South American. In 1968 through 1969 she was listed in Who's Who of American Women. She was a member of the Riversde, CA Sheriff's Dept. Auxiliary, YMCA Auxiliary and a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Riverside, CA for over 50 years. She is predeceased by her husband James B. Lumgair who died in 1978, and two sisters, Virginia Schaap and Vera Yeates and one brother, Mahlon Bennett. Survivors include her brother, Burton H. Bennett of Albany; one niece, Mrs. Brian A. (Barbara A.) Becker of Castleton on the Hudson; two nephews, Theodore Schaap of Clifton Park, Rudolph W. Yeates, Jr. of East Greenbush; several great and great- great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday 1:00 p.m. at the Frederick Funeral Home, 16 Manning Square, Albany. Burial will follow at Memory's Garden Cemetery, Colonie. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send a remembrance in her name to a charity of ones choice.
