The "History of Francestown" gives the parents of Thomas as Thomas and Mary. Martha Ann Mitchell Brian has his parents as John and Jannet Mitchell. Martha's documentation includes John Mitchells Last Will and Probate, which seems more reliable.

"Please find attached rich text file that has John & Janet Mitchell with
children.
I too found information in Francestown's history & Acworth. I wanted to
find out more about William's parents, Thomas & Mary as listed in these
histories. I searched all kinds of possible info that might have them & found
nothing. I decided after all this searching that I would prove or disprove
info given about the children listed.
My line is from John Mitchell, William's brother. John lived in Amherst, NH
& married Margaret Hogg, not Mary Hyland as history book stated. John &
wife Margaret "Peggy" worked their way through the small towns where John's
siblings resided & finally ended up in Clarenceville, Quebec. John &
Margaret's children Oliver & Elizabeth "Betsy" (m. David Nutt) moved there
as well...Oliver & Elizabeth are listed in Acworth as moving to Canada.
In putting together pieces of the puzzle with the children. I found John
(aka, in some legal documents, as Jonathan) & wife Janet lived in Hudson, NH. Hudson
(Nottingham) was earlier part of Massachusetts Bay Colony. I have John's Will &
probate with Janet as executrix. John's children are recorded in these
records. Children are in order of age: Agnes, Mary, John, William,
Elizabeth, & Thomas."

John married Jannet. (Jannet was born before 1718 and died in Jan 1787 in Francestown, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.)
