he was living with his parents in Plymouth NH.
During the Civil War he fought in Co B of the 15th NH Infantry. He enlisted on the 17th of Sept 1862 as a private. He died of disease at Baton Rouge LA.
Walter's widow filed for pension in September of 1863 and a minor, Elam Gilbert filed in 1868.
Walter married Hannah M. (Hannah M. was born in 1842.)
